The Rev. John Buehrens is the author or co-author of nine books on progressive religion, most recently A Religious Center With a Civic Circumference: Unitarians in San Francisco Since 1850. Having served as UUA President from 1993 to 2001, he retired as Senior Minister of the San Francisco church and lives in that city with his wife of 53 years, the Rev. Gwen Langdoc Buehrens, a pioneer among ordained women in the Episcopal Church.
