Wisdom and Resilience for These Times

Virtual Service ONLINE at http://www.facebook.com/FUCSJ

This week we draw on the wisdom of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” to add to our stock of resilience (February’s theme).  How does Dr. King ask us to respond when our deepest values and highest hopes are threatened with extinction? How does he remind us of who we human beings can be when we bring resilience in the face of pain? How does he illustrate one powerful definition of resilience: the strength to remain true to our best selves yet also the flexibility to adapt to the challenges of the moment? The Alegría Singers illustrate these themes with a beautiful new anthem, “Grounded and Guided” by Unitarian Universalists Rev. Ana Levy-Lyons (words) and Adam Podd (music).
