This year, for our annual Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead service, we give ourselves the time and space to remember and to honor all those we have lost, and the world has lost, in the COVID era. During the service, the Ritual of Compassion and Breakout Rooms will offer sacred spaces where we can share these stories and those of other beloveds who have died.

Bring Your Photos/Mementos for the Altar: Rev. Nancy is opening the sanctuary on:

  • Friday, October 29, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 30, from noon to 2:00 p.m.

so that you can come by, masked, and place your photos and mementos of loved ones—people, pets, personal, famous—on this year’s altar.

For the Worship Service, Sunday, October 31, 11:00 a.m.: As part of our slow transition to multi-platform services, those who have experienced a loss significant to you in the last 19 months, and who are vaccinated, may reserve a space to attend the Day of the Dead service in person. Attendees in the sanctuary will be masked.

To MAKE A RESERVATION, please send an email to Linda at office@sanjoseuu.org with “DAY OF THE DEAD” in the subject line.

Those who will feel safer at home or who are not/cannot be vaccinated are warmly invited to attend via Zoom.

No matter what your location as you attend this service, everyone will be fully included as we honor and acknowledge all our grief.
