On this particular Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, anticipation and anxiety wrestle for our attention. Join us this Sunday, as we find the resources for our resilience and resistance! We share stories of those who have stood up to tyranny in large and small ways, and we listen to Dr. King’s charge to tap into the strength we already have. We rise in body or in spirit for the Black national anthem, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” offered by the Stanford Talisman Alumni Choir. Here are the words if you’d like to honor this tradition by learning the song by heart: https://www.naacp.org/naacp-history-lift-evry-voice-and-sing/.
Most of all, we remember that curiosity and imagination are strengths we can always draw on. “We are going, heaven knows where we are going, but we know within. And we will get there, heaven knows how we will get there, but we know we will.” Join us for this day of strength building and hope!
