What does a painter feel when they have a mammoth blank canvas in front of them? They may have a vision for what they want to create, but in this moment of stillness, before they make the first brush stroke, they can’t be sure how it will turn out. Do they feel hopeful? Fearful? What do they need from the stillness in order to make their next move?
Come hear stories of the stillness we need when we are on the brink of something new. Come settle into the quiet open spaces we’ll create together in order to hear what’s calling us next. Chris Pasillas’s piano improvisation “The Vessel” and Amanda Udis-Kessler’s new hymn, “Hope Waits for Us at Advent,” will help to shape these spaces. Come—let us catch our breath!
