Poetry as the Medium for the Soul and the Spirit. In the 1960’s, Marshall McLuhan, the Canadian Communication Theorist, coined the phrase, “The medium is the message”, the medium influences how the message is perceived.  In thinking about a church service focused on poetry, that quote kept coming back to me.  The feel, sound, emotion of a poem communicates the meaning as well as the words.  In this service, we engage the voices of congregates to share poems that reflect their spirit – either of their own writing or of a favorite poet.  We invite you to settle in and let the poetry touch your soul.
