Eve’s Choice: The First Bite of Wakefulness

This morning, Rabbi Miriam Terlinchamp, Spiritual Leader for the progressive Temple Sholom in Cincinatti, Ohio, brings a fresh look at the figure of Eve, “the mother of humanity,” from the book of Genesis in the Jewish Torah. How does Eve’s choice—to see the world as it is—speak to the choices that we can make as we nurture into being a more beautiful world? Rabbi Miriam’s original poem and a portion of her Yom Kippur sermon serve as a jumping-off point for our own reflections.

Music includes the social-justice-focused Mother’s Day hymn #109 “As We Come Marching, Marching,” along with #207 “Earth Was Given as a Garden” and our version of the simple, beautiful chant “Sanctuary” by John Thompson and Randy Scruggs.

Our Special Collection goes to Third Street Community Center!
