The journey from loss to hope: surely this is a shared human experience this year. In the Christian tradition, that’s what the road to Easter is all about. Worship Associate Eloise Pelmulder—who is Unitarian Universalist and Episcopalian—shares the meaning of her own long “road to Easter” and lifts up the yearning for hope and joy that we are all feeling right now.

We celebrate Flower Communion with a video made up of all of you passing your flowers virtually down the rows of our Zoom pews. It’s not too late to send in your video for Flower Communion—or to ask for help in making that video. See the instructions elsewhere in this newsletter. Please send your short video clip to Monty Low: low.monty@gmail.com. If you need help with the recording, please email Rev. Nancy ASAP: revnpj@sanjoseuu.org.

Music this Easter Sunday includes Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings performed by 278 cellists from 29 countries—be sure to arrive by 10:50 a.m. to see this gorgeous video, which sets the tone for opening our service. The Alegría Singers bring us two anthems: Paul Halley’s “Ubi Caritas—Where There Is Love” and Benjie Messer’s new arrangement of “I Know This Rose Will Open” by Mary Grigolia.
