For this year’s online Celebration Sunday, we welcome two all-star guests who serve as leaders of the UUA’s Pacific Western Region (PWR): the Reverend Carlton E. Smith and Dr. Melissa James. They invite us to recommit to our Unitarian Universalist values and let love flow right through. In times of conflict, our human tendency is to fight, flee, or freeze, but these instinctive reactions limit what is possible, and they veer us away from our deepest commitments. What does it mean to face our challenges with love and compassion for ourselves, for those near us, and even for our adversaries? And what does “Loving Right Through” mean for how we actually build a beloved community here at FUCSJ, even when times get tough?
During worship, we have the chance to make our pledges for 2021-22 if we haven’t already. Pledging—or letting the Stewardship Team know if this is a year when we can’t make a pledge—has never been easier. You can find the online pledge form here: https://sanjoseuu.org/stewardship/ . Just click “Pledge Online Now” and follow the directions. No matter what your situation, we are grateful for your commitment! Together, we are resilient!
The music this Sunday includes a danced version of the Bengsons’ “Keep Going Song”; Guitars Aloud’s rendition of “Get Together,” by Chet Powers and the Youngbloods; “We Rise,” by Batya Levine; and DeReau K. Farrar’s sung benediction, “As We Go,” recorded by the Alegría Singers and mixed by John Ector.
