A virtual "sea" of many thousands of people, taken from above. The vast majority of the people are wearing pink hats, so the effect is one of many many thousands of pink dots. The people are clearly protesting (though the signs they hold up are not legible), and the words "“𝗔𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗜 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀”: 𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆" is superimposed over the center of the image.

The singer-songwriter Jean Rohe has written a stirring, truth-telling new “National Anthem,” subtitled “Arise, Arise.” This anthem tells many of the hard truths of this country’s history, even as its chorus stirs us to build a new national story. In the Alegría Singers’ heartfelt version, woven together with an orchestra of instruments by Choir Director John Ector, this song becomes our guiding text for a morning where all our thoughts and feelings about this moment in the national story are welcome.
