Every summer except 2020, we have had the opportunity to go camping together! Our annual church campout is appropriate and fun for everyone: families, couples, and singles. You don’t have to plan any meals or pack much equipment, other than your tent, sleeping bag, and basic necessities. We do communal cooking, and all the food, stoves, and cooking equipment is provided.
The location is a beautiful private property in Uvas Canyon, just south of San Jose, where we have gathered for 20+ years. There are pretty much no planned activities except meals and a piñata party. However, many folks organize hikes, scavenger hunts, and even bug races, and other popular activities include reading, sitting around talking, playing in the creek, arts & crafts, games of all sorts, napping, and music.
The cost is very reasonable and on a sliding scale, usually around $50-60 for adults + kids 12 and up, $25-30 for kids 4-11, and free for kids up through age 3. Some camperships are available and we have camping equipment we can loan out. The cost covers campsite fees, supplies, and meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast (eight generous meals). We have vegetarian and vegan options, real brewed coffee, and s’mores around the campfire. Plus dogs (and cats) are welcome but must stay on leash at all times (or in your tent).
–> Note: Many people don’t show up until Thursday night or even Friday. You won’t “miss out” if you can’t commit to the whole five days.
Mark your calendars now and look for more details in the coming months! In the meantime, for any questions, contact Claire Wagner at email@example.com.
