In case you missed it… We are very excited to have have Marissa join FUCSJ as our new Director of Religious Education. Here’s a introductory message from her: Hello everyone, I’m truly honored to be joining FUCSJ and becoming part of this community as the new Religious Education Director. I come with over 14 years of experience in education, currently serving as an Assistant Director at a preschool, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, families, and educators in meaningful, lasting ways. At the heart of my work is a deep belief that when people feel seen, safe, and valued, they are able to grow into who they’re meant to be… whether they’re children, families, or adults. I’ve spent my career creating environments rooted in compassion, respect, and connection, because I believe learning and faith both flourish best in spaces where belonging comes first. Although I am new to Unitarian Universalism, the UU beliefs and values are deeply meaningful to me and speak closely to my heart. I appreciate the commitment to justice, open communication, and shared responsibility for one another, and I feel a strong alignment with the values this community lives by. On a more personal note, I find a lot of joy in cooking, outdoor live music, coffee shops, markets, family events, home organizing, and writing. I am currently working on a book that I hope to publish one day, and I have a deep and ongoing interest in learning about human development and cognitive abilities. It’s my passion to learn how we understand the way people grow, learn, and make meaning throughout their lives. I’m also a proud mom of two daughters. One who is turning five and another who is fifteen. I love spending time listening to my five-year-old play the piano and cheering on my fifteen-year-old as she competes in high school cheer. I grew up with a very close family so a lot of the time you will see me spending time with them socializing and gathering somewhere together. I value community, integrity, and generational impact. I care deeply about supporting not just individuals, but families as a whole… meeting people where they are, honoring their stories, and walking alongside them with intention and care. I bring a thoughtful, heart-led approach to leadership, and I strive to lead with the ability to see others perspective, consistency, and genuine love for the people I serve. I’m beyond grateful and extremely excited for the opportunity to be here, and I look forward to learning from all of you, building meaningful relationships, and contributing in a way that supports the mission and spirit of this congregation. Thank you for welcoming me and I’m truly glad to be here. Sincerely, |
