Real coalition among BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color) UUs across California is vital in this time of urgent needs. As we continue building the DRUUMM CA (DRUUMM stands for Diverse, Revolutionary, UU Multicultural Ministries) community, we will examine our relationships with our faith spaces, social justice collectives, and each other. Join us for the Fall Retreat 2026: Finding Our Path Toward Collective Liberation.
Keynote address and panel discussion led by Jewell Famaaligi will unpack why our movements stall, why our congregations sometimes struggle to do hard things, and ways we can consider our individual and collective roles in creating the Beloved Community Dr. King envisioned. Our panel brings together three leaders doing this work on the ground: Antoinette Hollamon of the UU Women’s Federation and UU Justice Ministry of California; Valeria Aguilar, Social Justice Coordinator at First UU San Diego; and Angela Oh, Civil Rights Attorney at the Dept of Justice and Founder of Gift of Compassion.
Saturday, October 10, 10am to 3pm. Online and in person at First Unitarian Church of San Jose; and First UU Church of San Diego.
Palestine Solidarity Action will follow at 5pm.
