Ours is a shared ministry, a partnership among lay leaders, congregants, staff, and our ordained minister. By creating a shared vision for our spiritual community, and by joining together in the decision-making and the actions that fulfill this vision and keep this congregation healthy, we encourage each other to grow, we build friendships, and we capture the essence of Unitarian Universalism’s belief in the worth of the individual, the power of community, and the strength of the democratic process.

Leadership of FUCSJ is shared among the following:

The Board and OMC meet regularly with the Senior Minister.

FUCSJ uses a modified form of Policy–Based Governance, in which the Board set clear policies that reflect the congregation’s vision and mission, and that direct and guide the work of staff and volunteers. Whereas the Board sets policies, the OMC runs the church on a day-to-day basis. OMC members are representatives of major program areas within the church. The OMC meets monthly to improve communication and coordination across programs, and administer the church’s operations. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the church is the head of the OMC.

The Board, OMC, and Nominating Committee meet annually in a retreat, to reflect on the year, and to plan for the following year.  These retreats provide the basis for an annual report to the congregation

All elected OMC officers and Board members are nominated by the

Nominations Committee
