A Fountain of Thanks

Published by under Minister's Musings

This June, it is my joy to pause “on the forming edge of our lives” and write you a thank-you note on behalf of all our staff of the First Unitarian Church of San José. Consider this a shower, a fountain, of thanks for a wonderful year together!

Thank you …

First and foremost, for simply showing up

For sharing your truths, your struggles, your laughter, and your tears

For walking and talking with others, cooking meals, giving rides, making phone calls

For coming to worship services and congregational retreats, to parties and coffeehouses, to Circle Dinners and social justice events

For caring for our children and youth

For teaching, parenting, loving, and sharing with this community their upbringing and empowerment

For encouraging their growth into whole and healthy people with Our Whole Lives classes and all our curricula

For creating and attending parent and family meetups, picnics, hikes, and playdates

For loving our beautiful old building into health and wholeness

For painting walls, washing windows and toys, cleaning carpets, organizing closets

For stretching the wrinkles out of the carpet and polishing the floors

For admiring and maintaining our brand-new classrooms

For serving on boards and councils and committees

For helping lead our spiritual cooperative

For creating and sustaining our mission and vision for a vibrant multicultural, multigenerational, loving, active Unitarian Universalist community

For giving your time, talent, and treasure to reach our expansive goals

For being your creative, spunky selves

For being willing to experiment in worship and community life

For creating new publications like our journal, for writing essays and poems and finding photos and illustrations

For forming new groups, such as to care for Mother Earth or to enhance our music life

For taking new classes and singing new songs

For supporting our administrative staff

For communicating well and often

For paying your pledges as best you can

For bringing kindness, patience, gratitude, and constructive suggestions to the office

For offering your care and feeding of the ministers

For sharing the ministry with us through your leadership, pastoral care, worship contributions, and so much more

For showing your love and concern for us as we too journey through all life’s challenges and joys

No list of your contributions could ever be complete! Yet surely you will find your own gifts among those listed here.

!Gracias, Comunidad Amada! Thank you, Beloved Community!

With great love and gratitude,

Rev. Nancy and the staff of FUCSJ
