If I am not a Unitarian Universalist - can I get married in the Church?

We welcome people from all faiths and traditions. In our congregation we have humanists, theists, pagans, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, agnostics, pantheists, and more. Although individual Unitarian Universalists have varied beliefs about everything from scripture to rituals to God, we uphold shared principles and come together for spiritual development guided by freedom, reason, and conscience.

Is Parking Included in the Rental Fee?

For a Saturday or Sunday event, we provide parking coupons so the there is no cost to park in the Third or Fourth Street garages. Parking is free on the other side of St James Street. For weekday events we provide a coupon for two hours of free parking.

Do I need an appointment to view facilities?

Yes, to schedule an appointment to view the facilities please call the FUCSJ during office hours from 9 am - 4pm at (408) 292-3858.

Do You Support the LGBT Community?

Many LGBT weddings have been held in the church. Our congregation is a Welcoming Congregation for lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons. We have many active members of our community who are openly gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. Some come just for Sunday services. Some serve on committees and as congregational leaders.

Is the Homeless Population in the Area an Issue?

The First Unitarian Church as well as the Corinthian Ballroom next door host a wide range of evening activities and there has never been a problem for guests attending these events. Also, the area is well lit and there is a strong police presence in this area of town.

What is the deposit fee?

A deposit is required to hold the deposit fee will depend on the room you are renting. The deposit is due in advance in order to hold the requested rooms for you. The deposit will be applied towards the cost of the rental fee. If an event is cancelled at least 30 days prior to the event date, the deposit can be refunded.
