Members greeting each otherA Warm Welcome to You!

We are a liberal religious community where you can engage life’s questions with both your head and your heart. Drawing on many sources of wisdom, including our own reason and experience, our worship reminds us of who we are, what we want to become, and how we want to live. It offers time for reflection, healing, challenge, and celebration. It connects us with other seekers who share the belief that we “do not have to think alike to love alike.”

Our educational programs and special events deepen our connections, encourage us to grow spiritually, and teach us how to put our faith into action. Working, playing, and worshiping together, people of all ages and abilities, colors and cultures, sexual orientation and gender identities are partners here in creating a Beloved Community.

Please explore our website. Learn more about what Unitarian Universalists believe and how we worship; check out how we are putting our faith into action; notice the ways we connect with each other through small group ministries and special events; enjoy a glimpse of our educational programs for children, youth, and adults; get to know our ministers and congregational leaders.

But of course the best way to get to know us is to come worship with us on Sunday mornings. We hope you will find here exactly what you are seeking, and we look forward to getting to know you!

Rev. Nancy, Rev. Geoff, and the members of the First Unitarian Church

At First Unitarian Church of San José, I found a place where I can speak my mind freely on matters of religion, politics, science, and technology without fear of judgmental reactions, and a religious community that actually encourages the expression of challenging ideas. I find that church members value and respect each other without regard to station in life. Each person is cherished for whatever time, talent, thoughts, ideas, and resources they contribute.
